Willie Wonka Auditions

Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Isabelle Reader Theatre, Spencer School, 1026 Goldstream Ave.

This charming, engaging show is based on the classic musical film version starring Gene Wilder. It includes the musical numbers Pure Imagination, Candy Man, Cheer Up Charlie, and all the Oompa-Loompa songs!

The play is based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Music and lyrics are by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Stage direction and movement for this production will be by Jaymes D. Goodman with musical direction by Cary Chiu.

The charismatic owner of the magical candy factory. Lots of singing. Moderate movement.

Charlie

The poor boy with the big heart who gets the opportunity of a lifetime. Lots of singing. Moderate movement.

Grandpa Joe

Charlie's grandfather who once worked for Willy Wonka. Some singing. Light movement.

Augustus Gloop

A gluttonous child who is always eating (must be willing to possibly wear a fat suit). Some singing. Light movement.

Veruca Salt

A bossy and manipulative little girl. Moderate singing. Light movement.

Mr. Salt

Veruca's father who bends to her every whim. Light singing. Light movement.

Violet Beauregarde

A rude, gum-chewing girl lacking in manners. Light singing. Light movement.

Mrs. Beauregarde

Violet's pushy, business-only mother. Light singing.

Mike Teavee

A young boy who hates anything that doesn't have to do with techno toys.

Ms. Teavee

Mike's mother who tries very hard to please everyone. Some singing. Light movement.
